may favourites

May has been and gone already, whew! I don't want to even think about how quickly this year is going (too scary a thought), but one thing I'm looking forward to is that it's my birthday this month, I have a trip to Amsterdam planned which I' m very excited about.

Anyway, May's favourites are being shown today. Due to a bit of a glitch in schedule they're a few days later than planned. My selection is quite streamlined, mostly because I've been trying out new things, and also battling random skin issues at the same time, so I don't have many consistents for May.

First up is the combination of Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey with the Blackberry & Bay scent. Though I've always really enjoyed Nectarine Blossom and Honey on its own, and always take this cute little bottle with me when I travel, but never really gave Blackberry & Bay that much time of the day. It was only after reading on Tamira Jarrel how she combines it with the Blackberry & Bay did I give the combination a go, and wow. It is a lovely combination that pairs the warmer and slightly juicier fruitiness of peachiness with the floral and, for me, slightly honey scent of the Blackberry & Bay together. I don't think it will replace my beloved Wood Sage and Sea Salt which I adore, but since my Wild Bluebell (can you tell I love Jo Malone perfumes?) is almost finished, the Nectarine and Blackberry combo may become a permanent and larger bottled purchase for the warmer months.

Next up is my Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet. Now I know most people go for the Vitalumiere Aqua, which I have and enjoy a lot, but lately my skin has been needing a little help and for some reason, the Perfection Velvet has just been doing it for me. Although it seems to go on with a weirdly gritty feel, it sits so evenly and comfortably on my skin for the rest of the day. It also never looks completely flat on me, which with matte finish foundations is always a risk. Instead, perhaps because I have combination skin and am oily in some areas, I definitely do get a luminosity in areas that looks very natural at the same time. I take the shade B20.

Finally, and a non-beauty favourite, it's my Nike Lunareclipse 5 trainers that I purchased at the end of last month. I have been training for the Nike We Run London race, and have been needing a new pair of trainers for the event. I had to buy some support shoes to factor into my running again, and got recommended these ones after a gait test. After debating between the colour choices, I opted for the brightest pair I could find. It's been love this month wearing these. Easy to break in, and in such a cheery and motivating colour, I've been enjoying myself in these a lot.

Not the longest favourites list in history, but definitely a well-tried and very happy list of things I've enjoyed for May. Now if only the sun and warmer weather would come for the best month/birthday month.
