Budget Lip Colour round up

I'm sure you've wandered round the aisles of Boots and Superdrugs, haphazardly picking up lipsticks and lipglosses, swatched like a maniac, and then tossed them into your basket without thinking, before leaving the store with your purchases, and wondering if you really just bought four lipsticks in one go. Yes, yes you did, and you know it. Lip product is the area I think budget excels at, there's a big variety in finish and application style, there's more than enough to satisfy everyone's tastes. I went through as much as I could of my collection (there's so much, I've ended up storing them all over the place and in multiple bags), so here's an edited list of some of my favourites:

Bourjois Velvet Matte: these are my favourites of the bunch. Easy o apply, with a fantastic colour pay off and depth, and fairly long-lasting, these are the budget versions of one of my favourite high-end lipstick, the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks. My go-to shade is Happy Nude Year, which is a very wearable and pretty pink. What is really good about this formula is that it's easy to reapply and layer up, so even if I've smudged off some by eating or my bad habit of biting my lips, I can easily reapply without the worry of weird peeling which you can get with some liquid lipstick formulas. A brilliant lipstick, which I think everyone should look into if they haven't already.

Revlon Colour burst Matte Balm: Another matte formula, but in a super easy to apply pencil format. I'll admit the shade that is in the picture is a tad odd for me, making me look a tiny bit washed out and not quite the right tone, but I sometimes use it as a base for a different nude lip to go over. The lasting power is very good on this, which is one of the reasons I really like it.

MaybellineColor Sensational Shine Gloss: one of the few lip glosses I own, I really enjoy slicking this on when I'm in a rush and want just a tiny bit of colour to pepp up my look. Though it is a gloss, it's not too sticky which is really good, and smells slightly fruity without being overpowering, so thumbs up for that!

Kiko Cosmetics Intensely Lavish Lip Pencil: This is a lip pencil from the Rebel Romantic Collection, in the shade 01. This is a browny-pink that leans towards a raspberry red in some lights. This is so comfy to wear and doesn't tug on the lips at all. Though some people might use it just for lining, I rather like using it all over the lips on its own. The lasting power of this is surprisingly good, though I do find it a teensy bit drying and have to apply lip balm on top for a little bit of comfort.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick: these lipsticks are soooo comfy to wear. The shade I have here is In Love With Ginger, which is a brilliantly fiery orange-red that has a tiny hint of coral on me. They're quite a shiny lip colour though, 'moisture' being the keyword here, so if you like mattes, you probably want to head to one of the other options. This formula isn't the most long-lasting either, but then again, that is to be expected from this type of formula.

I would say that those four have been my regulars more than any of the others featured in the picture, though all of the ones that I've not mentioned are excellent picks. I was obsessed with the Rimmel Apocalips for about 3 months and refused to use anything else when they first came out. They're a tad too sticky for my liking at the moment, but that's probably because I'm currently more into my mattes at the moment. The Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks are always very reliable, with a great number of shades, which they're always adding to or expanding with new ranges like the Nude range. In all fairness, I have only tried out a fraction of all the budget lipsticks out there, there are just too many for me to try! If I've missed out any of your favourites, let me know in the comments so that I can give them a go!
